Preston & District Circle's 'Away Day'

Flushed with success from the recent visit to Crewe Circle (see below), five brothers of Preston 144 dusted down their Senior Railcards and set off again on another 'Away Day', this time, not to visit a circle but a visit to Ludlow in Shropshire, a venue chosen by our guide, brother Mike Cowley.
Coffee on Preston station whilst awaiting the Virgin Train for the first leg of our journey to Crewe.

After a quick change of trains at Crewe we were soon on our way by Arriva Wales train to Ludlow.
(Note the building centre background!)

First stop...the micro brewery.

The local brew helped to wash down the slices of pork pies and scotch eggs.
Our knowledgeable guide led us through the town to the castle
and other interesting sights....

..........

The River Teme flows around the outskirts of the town.

A memorial to  A.E.Housman, author of  'A Shropshire Lad'.

A second visit to the brewery preceded our return train journey to Preston, where a visit to Tino's for a meal rounded off an excellent 'Away Day'.
"Thanks Mike. Here's to the next one!"
