Preston South Circle's 'Burns NIght Bash'

Brothers of Preston South 235 circle extended their usual welcome to over 100 guests when they held their annual dinner dance on 23rd January at Barton Grange Hotel near Preston. Friends, family and Presidents from circles in Province 10 gathered to celebrate Burns night with the circle. The haggis was piped in at the head of the procession with Brother Brian Walton acting as the Whiskey Bearer before addressing the wee beastie in traditional style.

There were speeches, responses and toasts in abundance before the two charity raffles (one for use of a holiday villa in Portugal and the other for the usual goodies in boxes and bottles) were drawn. Brother President Arthur Whitlock’s chosen charity Galloway’s society for the blind based in Penwortham near Preston and Castlerigg Manor in Keswick run by Lancaster diocese both benefitted from the money raised on the night.

With the formalities over it was time to get down to some serious moves, or general shuffling around in some cases, out on the dance floor. DJ Rob Falcon was once again on top form in his usual anarchic style and striking costumes that change frequently throughout the night. Not only was the event a resounding success there were also some prospective future members who are keen to find out more about the Catenian’s.
Keeping with tradition piping in the wee beastie.
