When Province 10 invited Grand President Bob Butler and his
wife Kathy to their Summer Ball at the Pines Hotel, Chorley, it was not long
before it was revealed that they had both been there before. Forty-nine years ago Bob travelled up from
Devon to attend the wedding of his friend, Geoffrey, and there met Kathy, a local
girl from nearby Bolton and a friend of the bride, Brenda. Well, to say that Bob and Kathy hit it off is
an understatement because TWELVE days later they were engaged to be married,
the event taking place the following year.
Grand President commented on how well the Ball was attended
and that he always got a good reception in Province 10, this being his third
visit so far. There were brothers and
their wives from all circles in the province and some from beyond, including
members of Grand Council and those responsible for this publication.

The Catenian Association is an international body of proudly Catholic laymen and permanent deacons who meet at least once a month in local groups called Circles, to enjoy each other's company and thereby strengthen their family life through friendship, faith and fun! It is open to practising Catholic laymen from the age of 18 years. Many of the Circles’ activities involve the members’ wives and families.
