Broughton in Craven Circle celebrate Burns' night.

Bro Joe Loughlin addressing the haggis

Joe Loughlin, Deirdre Schutz,
Franklin Schutz [President], Jason Fletcher.
On Saturday 23rd January Broughton in Craven held an excellent Burns' dinner at Colne Golf Club to celebrate the impending Birthday of the 'Bard'. 59 members and friends sat down to an evening of readings, jokes and general banter. The food was traditional with the piping in and addressing of the Haggis [toasted well with single malt], followed by a meal of 'Haggis Neaps and Tatties', roast beef and cranachan [which we found out was a mixture of oats, cream, whisky and rasberries, delicious.
For the evening we were lucky to have our piper Jason Fletcher an ex member of the circle who entertained us and struck fear in equal measure. The evening was finished off by a toast to the Ladies and Guests by our President Franklin Schutz and a reply by our circle comedian Robert Greenwood [also treasurer], which had us all in fits of laughter. This continues our circle tradition of celebrating the birthday ina somewhat lighthearted way and has been going now for almost 20 years.

Father Frankie entertains at Broughton-in-Craven Circle

Father Frankie Mulgrew ( aka Frankie Doodle in the entertainment world ) had the brothers, ladies and visitors of the Broughton-in-Craven Circle in stitches when, on Thursday 7th January 2016, he talked openly about his life as a former  stand-up comedian and now as a priest in Blackburn. The general comment was: " If only all homilies could be like that", which emphasised
Father Frankie's  huge success.
