A message from Brian's daughter, Kate. |
The Catenian Association is an international body of proudly Catholic laymen and permanent deacons who meet at least once a month in local groups called Circles, to enjoy each other's company and thereby strengthen their family life through friendship, faith and fun! It is open to practising Catholic laymen from the age of 18 years. Many of the Circles’ activities involve the members’ wives and families.

The Funeral of Brother Brian Hargreaves R.I.P.
The funeral for Brother Brian is at 12:00 on Thursday 3rd December at St Mary & St Michael Church, Bonds Lane, Garstang, PR3 1ZB.
The burial will be in the Church Cemetery (behind the church).
The (extended) family will organise seating.
The Brothers of North Lancashire and Westmorland Circles are invited to line the route outside the church following the Mass but not before the Mass. This means leaving the church immediately after the Mass (before the coffin).
Noreen wants everyone to be seated before the coffin arrives rather than lining up outside the church for the arrival of the coffin. This will enable Brothers to sit with their ladies. It will help the ushers to fill up the benches and will not need any seats to be reserved.
Enquiries to Brother John Calnan.

Broughton in Craven members have a night, which is hard to remember.
Eight Broughton in Craven circle members enjoyed an excellent evening at an Annual Whisky tasting held at the Rendezvous Hotel, Skipton.
This is a very enjoyable and educational evening giving us the opportunity to sample and taste seven specially selected Scottish Malt Whiskies chosen by an old traditional Scottish distillery with the history behind each diffferent but wonderful malt whisky.
Mind you, when it got to the seventh the eduactional bit didnt matter any more as you can see from the picture!
This was a thoroughly enjoyable social evening with a great atmosphere and rounded off with a Lasagne Supper.
Looking forward to next year's event already.
The task before us - to taste seven (expensive) whiskies! |
L to R. Brother Chris Nash (Circle Membership Officer) enjoys a comment or two with Brother Ron Lyons. |

The Sun sets after a decade of entertainment with a huge glow!
Anyone else?
Bro. President Adrian Crook and Bro. Robert Thompson, in his
role as School Liaison, were invited to attend St Bede’s Catholic High School’s
Presentation Evening. Lytham St Annes
Circle presented a shield a few years ago for the school to award to the
pupil(s) who they consider have been outstanding in helping both the school and
community. There were three recipients.
The photograph shows Clara Hickford-Martinez and Ryan
Molyneux from Kirkham, President Adrian Crook, Councillor Peter Hardy, and
Natasha Godsiff from St Annes-on-Sea. Whilst
Robert, with his Press & Publicity hat on, was taking the photograph after
the ceremony, he was approached and asked if the Mayor of Fylde, could be
included!

Clare’s experience helped by the Bursary Fund
Clare had planned her workload with the Sisters including
working where she would be of most use, putting her faith into action and
increasing her faith in community life. So
she found herself working amongst the poor, in the school and hospital, caring
for those confined at home with disease and working in the local health clinic. Returning with stories, having increasing her
knowledge, she was able to strengthening the links between the Diocese and her
parish so that they can better support them.
Clare also spoke about her time at university where
she came across many difficulties in practising her faith, because it is such a
secular institution. Clare is now
working for the charity LIFE in Manchester.
