Burnley Circle's Mid-week Break

For a number of years, Burnley Circle has had a tradition of having a weekend away every Autumn.  This year, the weekend was translated into a couple of mid-week nights at Warners Nidd Hall hotel.  The visitors had great food, service, accommodation and entertainment and enjoyed the company.
The trip was organised by Circle President,
Terry &  Janet Hephrun, (front row left).

More ramblings

On 10 October around 20 members, wives and friends of Accrington Circle joined President Andrew Dabrowski for an autumn morning stroll. The party left the Low Moor area of Clitheroe and followed the River Ribble to Brungerley Bridge and then back to the Edisford Bridge Hotel where they were met by several non-walkers for a hearty lunch. The group included Pres. Chris Daly of Blackburn with Ribble Valley Circle with his wife Sue and Bro. Peter Jones along with Prov. Pres. Peter Western and his wife Joan. The photo shows some of the group having a "breather" alongside the river.

What a corker

President Tony and Kelly Godden organised and lead Lytham St Annes Circle five (six) day trip to Cork recently.  The first event was attendance at Cork Circle’s meeting.  The whole party of nineteen, not all were from LSA, participated in a specially conducted tour of Jameson’s Midleton Distillery and a celebratory dinner on the Saturday.  During the rest of the time different groups enjoyed among other things an open top bus tour of the city, visits to local attractions such as Elizabeth Fort, the cities two cathedrals and Spike Island.  A number also travelled along part of the Wild Atlantic Way.  Such a good time was had that the Irish didn’t want us to leave, well a certain Mr Michael O’Leary, but it is hoped that he will be paying for privilege of us extending our stay in the Emerald Isle by 7½ hours.

LONGRIDGE CIRCLE SEPTEMBER MONTHLY WALK

This month we took in a walk of about 4.5 miles around Silverdale, mostly on hard tracks which were a little muddy in places so walking boots were essential. We were, however, blessed with a pleasant day weather wise and as always great company accompanied by some fantastic scenery across the Kent estuary and Morecambe bay.

Some of the hardy souls pausing (or is that posing) for a group snap.
Next time Ted you might want to stand next to Moira rather than Bob!!!

After, we dined in the Silverdale Hotel and had a super meal.
The October walk will be based around the Selberge Hall Hotel, North Allerton with all 10 bedrooms now booked and the walk will be followed by a delicious dinner prepared by chef Damon Connelly.
The venue gives an opportunity to visit Fountains Abbey which during October is beautifully lit at night for visitors.

Longridge Circle walks are open to anyone who would like to walk between 4-5 miles with a pleasant hostelry at the end.
The November walk is a combined walk with Brooklands Circle and will be, as always, on the last Wednesday of the month, that is the 29th November. All welcome. Details from Joe Carroll or Bob Barron.

Accrington Circle's Summer Walk......

On 17th August, Accrington Circle held their Annual Summer Evening Walk.
In previous years this day has always seemed to be the wettest of the year. However on this occasion it was a warm and sunny evening. Around forty people gathered at Rishton Cricket Club and split into two groups.
One group just did a gentle stroll through Cut Wood Park and around Rishton Reservoir.
The second group were more adventurous and included a section of the towpath alongside the Leeds  Liverpool Canal. Both groups returned to the cricket club for a buffet supper and well-earned drink.
The day turned out to be quite remarkable as no less than five people present were celebrating their birthday. The photo shows some of the walkers about to depart.

On 12th September, Brother President, Andrew & Karen Dabrowski organised an afternoon tea at Haworth Art Gallery in Accrington. Around thirty people attended and prior to the meal they looked round the gallery, famous for its collection of Tiffany Glass.
The photos show some of the assembled group 'eyeing-up' the "goodies" before tucking in!

Provincial President Peter's Peregrinations (continued)

The second in a short series of updates from Provincial President Peter Western

The year is still passing quickly!

We were delighted with the Ball at the Dunkenhalgh, and have so many people to thank for making the event such a great success, with over 150 in attendance. Here's some pictures then by the band, T'Others

Other successful events include the Lytham St Annes strawberry tea at the home of Adrian and Susan; Broughton-in-Craven's dinner at the Falcon Manor in Settle; the Longridge Circle cycle rides; a walk with Blackburn with Ribble Valley Circle in Lytham followed by fish and chips at Whelan's; the Chorley and South Ribble dinner dance at Shaw Hill Golf Club (sorry, no photos of that one). Here's a few photos -
